Papo & Yo Original Soundtrack

Posted in Mixing

I just found out that the first project I mixed at La Hacienda Creative, “Papo & Yo Original Soundtrack” had more than 15.000 copies downloaded and more than 25.000 individual songs downloaded.

Congratulations to Brian D’Oliveira and Vander Caballero (mastermind behind Papo & Yo)!

Loco Motors is out for iOS devices

The first game I participated in a soundtrack playing drums is finally available on the AppStore.

The soundtrack was composed by Brian D’Oliveira (he also plays all instruments other than  drums) and we recorded it around summer 2013.

Our lead sound designer Benoit Lafrance (also a drummer) helped creating some of the patterns we used in the soundtrack.

The game was available for Android for a small period but then was taken offline to improve some aspects and now it’s released for iOS devices.

If you have an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, go get your copy and have some fun.

Vaudou Brass Snare COMPLETE Sample Pack is now available!

So, after some tweaking and testing I think the full pack is ready to go.

It comes with 3 Slate Trigger Instruments described below:
– Complete: has all velocities and different hits for each velocity. It’s completely DRY. No processing whatsoever. Perfect starting point if you want to sculpt your own snare sound. Mono WAV files.
– PRO DRY: same thing as “Complete” but I added a lower tuning sample on the strongest velocities. It will be fatter and with more attack that the “Complete” instrument. Stereo WAV files.
– PRO: this is the PRO DRY pack with some mild processing (EQing, compressing, reverb). Stereo WAV files.

The Free pack works VERY WELL if mixed with any of those form the Complete pack (because is a different tuning as well).

Click here to buy the pack via Bigcartel or visit the Store to buy directly using your Paypal (faster than BigCartel)

FREE Snare Sample Pack Available

There you go.This is just a small taste of this snare.

Like I mentioned here this is a freebie, with less hits and only three “velocities”.
This recording is RAW! There is no EQ or compression. In my point of view, I rather be able to sculpt the sound the way that I want than receive a baked version of the sample, that will make the instrument sound pretty much the same as everyone’s else using the same samples…
There is a .TCI file (for Slate’s Trigger) and the .WAV files for whatever sample trigger you want to use.
So, enjoy it, let me know what you think and the full version will be up soon, very soon.

Cheers

Vaudou Brass Sample Pack

I’ll be releasing soon a sample pack from the Vaudou Brass snare.

For those who never heard about Vaudou, it is a brand of custom drums made in Quebec, Canada.
This is a brass snare, 14″ x 6.5″, and it was sampled with brand new Evans G2s on the batter side and Evans Hazy 300 on the snare side.
The signal chain was:
– Microtech Gefell UM930 into an AMS Neve 1073 pre, into a Burl B2 Bomber
– Shure SM7 into 1073 into B2
– Shure Beta 57 into API 512, into Apogee Symphony.

I’ll put out a freebie so you can hear more or less how the snare sounds. The freebie has a different tuning, less samples and less dynamics.

The “full” pack will have the final snare samples, unprocessed, so you can teak it however you want, leaving it more or less organic, just like if you recorded the snare with a great signal chain.
It will also contain a “tweaked” snare, with build the way I like, ready to go on you mix and make your snare cut through everything else with definition and punch.

The pack will be sold for $4.50 CAD.

Stay tuned for more details soon.

Problems with HTML5 Audio Player

Posted in Articles

Hi everyone,I’ve been having problems with the HTML5 player I was using so I took it off the page for a while until I can find a reliable solution.
In a few days I’ll start a series of posts where I’ll talk about my favourite inexpensive (or free) plugins.
Don’t forget to sign the RSS feed or follow me on Facebook or Tweeter so you can keep updated when I do those posts, maybe you’ll find out about a plugin you didn’t know before

Incarceration – “Sacrifice” EP

Posted in Video

Just finished mixing and mastering this project that was done part in Brazil (drums tracked by Nestor Carreira at Revolusom Studio), part in Germany (bass, guitars and vocals by Daniel Duracell at his home studio).
The EP will be released in 7″ vinyl by Dawnbreed RecordsMore info on the release/merch etc., here.

The guitars were tracked as clean DI signals, and were “tone shaped” here at mixing stage using plugins. Same with the bass.

Very little hardware was used on the mix: ART PRO VLA II, Canil Mini76, Yamaha REV7 and DBX160 were the only ones.
Make sure you listen to the version on Youtube on the highest quality possible!
Cheers

New site up and running (at 90%)!

Posted in Uncategorized

Hey everyone!I made a few changes on the website, ditching Joomla for WordPress.
Joomla was too much of a hassle to add new posts and I want to put more content out, so, saving time while posting is essencial.
For now, the site will be in English only, although some tutorials I might keep doing in Portuguese with English subtitles.
Also right now, the audio player on the left side works perfect on Chrome and Safari, so, until the developer of the plugin points me to the right directions, I recommend you use one of those browsers.
I hope you like the new site and keep coming back!
Thanks for your visit!
